1990 Fender Stratocaster 1962 Mary Kaye RI Stage used and signed by SRV
1990 Fender Stratocaster 1962 Mary Kaye Reissue in excellent condition. This Strat originally belonged to Mike Hall, SRV’s bus driver. The guitar was played by Stevie Ray Vaughan at the Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, NY July 8th 1990. At the previous concert, located at Garden Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, all six of Stevie’s guitars were damaged by a stanchion that fell on top of them (including his 1959 Fender Stratocaster he has used since the 1970s). Rene Martinez, SRV’s guitar technician, happened to have this guitar set up and ready to play for his next show. Stevie liked the guitar so much that he used it for the entire sound check and throughout the concert. Additional to the signed pickguard and book, an article by David Wells and a letter signed by Rene Martinez further explain this guitar’s history. Overall this guitar has been well taken care of. Strat is set up with .13 - .59 gauge strings and has been refretted with jumbo frets, just like SRV liked it. This guitar is all original to when it was played at the Jones Beach Theatre by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Stage used SRV gear rarely comes up for sale making this a unique opportunity for any collector. A photo of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Mike Hall, amongst other forms of memorabilia as seen photos, are included. Comes with the original hardshell case.
