1971 Guild Artist Award

1971 Guild Artist Award in excellent condition. These were top of the line archtops that Guild produced in the early 1970s. What first started as the Johnny Smith Artist model in 1956, this was renamed the Artist Award in 1961. This one is big and beautiful, and sounds fantastic. Guitar features Ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlay, with abalone V insert. Highly figured maple back and sides with a solid spruce top. DeArmond 1100 pickup is original to the guitar. This Guild sounds great plugged in or even just acoustic. Additionally, this guitar is upgraded with Evo fret wiring and is much stronger than nickel. Standard 17” lower bout and 1 11/16 nut width. Heel cap has been replaced as seen in photos but is made to look identical to the neck. Strap pin has been moved under the heel for better comfort and balance, and the original hole has been filled professionally. Guitar is well maintained and structurally solid. Comes with the original hardshell case.
