1930 Gibson Marshall Special

1930 Marshall Special guitar in excellent condition.  Gibson made the Marshall Special Hawaiian guitar for a Lillian G. Marshall, a teacher in Hartford, CT.  Only one model was made and only two known examples exist anywhere, this being one of them.  The other example is featured on the cover of Paul Fox's book The Other Brands of Gibson.  Possibly the rarest Gibson guitar ever made!  Ours is in near-perfect original condition.  There are a few very minor scuffs, but it is all original right down to the case.  Incredible tropical volcano scene painted on the spruce top.  Pearloid fingerboard overlay with painted squares and pearloid peghead overlay that reads Marshall Special.  The mahogany back and sides have a dark brown finish.  This is the lightest built L-00 style guitar in existence.  The braces are about half the size of 1930 L-00s.  We have silk and bronze strings on it as it was clearly not intended for anything heavier.  This guitar is so perfect and so rare that it is almost a shame to play it.  Includes original soft case in excellent condition as well.  Once in a lifetime chance to own the king of the painted guitars.
