1936 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage De Luxe
1936 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage De Luxe in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear for an instrument of its age. Tom converted this Roy Smeck to Spanish style. The process involved: neck reset, neck reshaping taking the nut width down from 2 1/8" to 1 13/16", adding a 1/2" aluminum square tube to stiffen the neck, filled and recut bridge for saddle compensation and fretting. The neck finish is a spot on match of the original done using the same techniques as Gibson used in this time period. The neck reinforcement makes for a stiff neck that will not bend from string tension. The material we use has the same mass as the wood removed and does not color the sound. Neck profile is a C shape, 0.85" at the 1st fret, 1.04" at the 10th fret. There are 3 repaired and stable top cracks. Sound is rich and powerful with plenty of dynamics. Comes with chipboard case.
