1935 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage De Luxe SN: 366A
1935 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage De Luxe in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear for an instrument of its age. Tom converted this Roy Smeck to Spanish style. The process involved: neck reset, neck reshaping taking the nut width down from 2 1/8" to 1 13/16", adding a 1/2" aluminum square tube to stiffen the neck, filled and recut bridge for saddle compensation and fretting. The neck finish is a spot on match of the original done using the same techniques as Gibson used in this time period. The neck reinforcement makes for a stiff neck that will not bend from string tension. The material we use has the same mass as the wood removed and does not color the sound. Tom did his usual masterful job of carving the neck and giving this guitar the new life it deserves. The sound is full and rich with excellent overtones and a solid fundamental note. Equally fun to fingerpick or flatpick on. One professionally sealed back crack. This guitar was constructed with a spruce top, mahogany back, sides and neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. This guitar has a scale length of ", nut width of ", thickness at the first fret of ", thickness at the tenth fret of ", and weighs lbs exactly. Includes a modern hard case.
