1956 Guild F-40
1956 Guild F-40 in excellent condition. Very rare early New York made Guild. These early ones have a lot in common with the Epiphone flattops from the early 50s, many of the employees were the same. Arch maple back with no bracing, maple sides, and spruce top. Three piece mahogany neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The neck is 1 5/8" wide at the the nut, 7 1/4" radius fingerboard, 2 1/8" string spacing, and 25 1/2" scale length. These have a unique bracing pattern that gives them an almost archtop like bark in the midrange. Very even all over the neck, again like a good archtop. Really an interesting and different sound from most any other flattop guitar. Very lively and fun to play up the neck. This guitar was refretted and had the neck reset by Gruhn's shop a few years back. It plays beautifully and is all original otherwise. Crack and break free and 100% original finish. Includes new hard case.
