1957 Gibson J-185 Blonde
1957 Gibson J-185 in very good condition. This is one of the most sought and rare of all Gibson flat-top guitars. Produced from 1951-1957 there were a total of 918 made in both sunburst and natural finishes. The combination of solid maple back and sides, spruce top, and a mahogany neck create a unique and wonderful sounding guitar. The finish is original and in fair shape with checking and play wear all over but no overspray or refin. Most of the finish on the back of neck is worn off and has a burnished feel. Has been refreted with medium wire, neck is reset with good saddle height, bridge had previously been shaved down so we laminated a piece on the bottom to get it back to proper height. Four small repaired back cracks and one small repaired side crack. Top has replaced pickguard and repaired pickguard crack. When you play this guitar you understand why the J-185 is such a desirable model. There is nothing else like it in the vintage guitar world. It is lively and clear with a bright woody tone. Excellent for strumming chords, flat-picking, finger-style , you name it. Comes with hard case.
