1905 Tony Biehl 000

1905 Tony Biehl 000 size guitar in excellent condition.  Tony Biehl built guitars in Davenport Iowa and reportedly went out of business in 1904.  This guitar had the date 1905 clearly written inside the neck joint however.  It is in amazing condition and after a refret and neck reset plays like new.  The lower bout is 14 7/8", just shy of the Martin 000 body.  The scale length is 25 1/2" with a 1 27/32" nut width.  The neck is a hard V shape which is distinctive to Biehl's instruments.  The workmanship is crisp and clean and the sound is surprising in volume and low end.  Most people who pick it up have no idea it is a ladder braced guitar.  It is a remarkable piece of American guitar building history as well as an interesting and useful musical instrument.  A truly unique guitar.
