1905 Washburn Model 423

1905 Washburn model 423 in excellent condition.  This is one of the earliest guitars we have seen that was clearly intended for steel strings.  X-braced spruce top, gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back and sides, cedar neck with ebony fingerboard and bridge.  Neck has a steel reenforcement.  Scale length is 25.25", the body is 14.5" at lower bout and 4" deep.  Inside the body it is stamped with "NEW MODEL 1897 STYLE," there is a small round white label with the serial number.  The serial number is on the neck block and top of headstock as well.  This guitar predates steel string 00 Martins by about 20 years and we feel is very comparable in sound to those of the 1920s.  If it said "Martin" on the peghead it would be twice the price.  Includes new TKL arch-lid hard shell case.  Really a special guitar.
