1943 Gibson Southern Jumbo Rosewood
1943 Gibson Southern Jumbo in good condition. This Gibson has playwear throughout and has five professionally repaired cracks on the top, four smaller ones on the lower bout and one longer one that extends from under the pickguard to the top edge of the guitar. There are also seven professionally repaired cracks on the back including a center seam repair and a crack on the right side that extends from the edge of the lower bout to the top edge of the upper bout.
This Southern Jumbo was constructed with a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, a three piece birch/mahogany/birch neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard featuring pearl inlays, and a Brazilian rosewood bridge. It has no trussrod, but instead features a “V” shaped maple reinforcement in the neck. This is an exceptionally rare configuration of a Southern Jumbo with only a handful known to have been made.
The neck has a width of 1 3/4" at the nut, a depth of 1.12” at the first fret, and a depth of 1.18” at the tenth fret. The guitar has a 24 ¾” scale and weighs 4.52 lbs. Comes with the original brown hardshell case.
