1967 Standel 811-S

1967 Standel 811-S hollow body guitar in good condition.  These are interesting and rare guitars.  Standel was a successful west coast amp manufacturer and tried several attempts to add instruments to their line.  The last of these attempts was designed by Sam Koontz through Harptone Manufacturing.  The total production for all Koontz models is about 300 guitars.  The 811-S is a fully hollow body guitar with laminate maple top and back and solid sides.  The lower bout is 17" wide with a depth of 3 1/4". The neck profile seems to be lifted form a late 60s Gibson with 1 5/8" nut 24 5/8" scale and the wide low frets like a fretless wonder.  DeArmond pickups give this beast a unique growl.  There is a volume and tone for each pickup with a three way switch and master volume.  We are told this guitar has lived its entire life uptown in Harlem.  It has certainly been played.  At some point a crack in the side was repaired and touched up.  Seems to be all original otherwise.  The pickguard is missing.  Has a  hard case which appears to be original to the guitar.  This guitar is a sure conversation starter.
