Crandall Nick Lucas

Crandall-made Nick Lucas inspired guitar.  This guitar is based around the body size of the 1928 Nick Lucas Special made by Gibson.  The back and sides are made from Wenge, the top is Sitka Spruce, finger-board and bridge are made from Ebony.  X-bracing of Tom's own design with his proprietary catenary-arch for the top and back.  The body is 14" at lower bout and over 4.5" deep at the endpin.  The scale length is 24.5" with a 1.75" nut width.  Neck shape is the late 20s early 30s Gibson rounded profile, which is quite comfortable.  Neck and body are bound with flamed Maple.  Finger board inlays are the classic Nick Lucas design although done a bit neater than Gibson workmanship.  The top has a warm shading of Violin Varnish.  The finish all over is French polished to a high luster.  The sound of this guitar is unique.  The deep body gives a nice full sound but offers more individual note clarity than other Nick Lucas models we have played.  There is a nice snap to the sound when played hard and a certain delicacy that responds to a gentler touch.  Includes hard case.
