1935 Gibson Roy Smeck Radio Grande Spanish
1935 Gibson Roy Smeck Radio Grande in excellent condition. This one of a kind Roy Smeck was constructed with a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. This one left the factory set up to play Spanish style as opposed to Hawaiian style like you would expect from this model, an extremely rare detail. One of a kind rare dark factory sunburst finish and tiger stripe guard. Another unique feature is the finely scalloped bracing originally from the factory usually only seen on the earliest versions of the Smeck. The neck has never been reset and the action is perfect. There are original side dots as well, a feature not found on the Hawaiian versions. The neck is much thinner than a typical Smeck as well. The nut width is two inches. For some unknown reason the model name was removed from the headstock many years ago. All parts are original to the guitar right down to the frets. Comes with the original hardshell case. A spectacular sounding guitar with a rich, complex tone that is also a true cannon, producing incredible volume with phenomenal sustain. There are two short back cracks that have been neatly repaired. The original Gibson hardshell case has a sticker which points to a connection between this guitar and the famous evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson.
