1998 Martin HD-28LSV
1998 Martin HD-28 LSV
This Martin model is based off the 1935 Martin D-28 #58957 owned by Clarence White and Tony Rice. It has an enlarged soundhole and white binding on the fingerboard. This particular guitar has a confirmed "Smokies" Adirondack spruce top. Luthier John Arnold supplied Martin with a small supply of these tops and were only used in 1997-1998 on this LSV model. The back and sides are East Indian rosewood. The neck is a nice modified V shape and has a 1 3/4" nut width. The scalloped forward shifted x bracing packs a lot of punch combined with the enlarged soundhole. There is a reinforced crack repair on the top of this guitar. There are two dings on the right side of the guitar as well, they do not go all the way through the rosewood. This guitar is a great player grade Bluegrass guitar. This guitar weighs 4.62 lbs, measures 0.86" at the first fret, and 1.00" at the tenth fret. Comes with the original hardshell case.
