1939 Martin D-28
1939 Martin D-28 in very good condition for its age. Features a solid Adirondack spruce top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides, the classic pre-war tonewood combination used during this period. It also has a rare Herringbone backstrip. Wide ebony fretboard with an old partial refret to the 13th fret which now shows some wear. The neck has been professionally reset, and the bridge is an early Martin replacement. It retains its original finish with honest play wear consistent with an 87-year-old instrument. Original tuners are present and functioning as intended. No cracks or major structural repairs. This pre-war D-28 has the rare combination of scalloped, rear-shifted bracing and a 1 3/4" nut width that only happens in late 1938 and early 1939. Neck depth is 0.85" at the 1st fret and 1.06" at the 10th fret, providing the substantial pre-war neck profile typical of late-1930s Martins. The guitar weighs 4.63 lbs. Includes its original hardshell case.
