1936 Regal Marvel Tone
1936 Regal Marvel Tone #4658 in very good condition. Between 1928 and 1940, Regal Musical Instrument Co. offered five models of “Custom Built” guitars. Each of these had ebony bridges, slotted headstocks, mahogany necks and 12 frets to the body. This particular Marvel Tone (#4658) has a spruce top with rosewood back and sides. Tone quality on this instrument can be compared to a Martin of the same period. Restoration on this guitar began in 2009, with a professional neck reset, refret, and replaced bridge plate. Playability is excellent, extremely comfortable acoustic guitar that is perfect for fingerpicking. Cosmetically this is in great shape, with a history of some fantastic restoration work making this sound and playing exceptionally well. The bridge has been replaced and tuners are repros, they function great and keep this guitar well intonated and in tune. You can find a full article by Ken Lelen about this rosewood beauty here. Overall a great vintage flat top acoustic, comes with a hard shell case.
