1934 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe

1934 Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe in very good condition. It has a FON number 881 Tom converted this Roy Smeck to Spanish style. The process involved: neck reset, neck reshaping, adding frets to the neck, taking the nut width down from 2 1/8" to 1 13/16", adding a 1/2" aluminum square tube to stiffen the neck, and recutting the saddle slot on the original bridge for proper intonation, and making a new saddle.  The neck finish is a spot on match of the original done using the same techniques as Gibson used in this time period.  The neck reinforcement makes for a stiff neck that will not bend from string tension. This Smeck was constructed with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and a Brazilian rosewood bridge. The "V" shaped neck has a width of 1 13/16" at the nut, and a depth of 0.91” at the first fret and 1.09” at the ninth fret.  The guitar has a 24 3/4” scale length and weighs 3.70 lbs.  A huge sounding, responsive guitar with an exceptional, well balanced tone that features a particularly striking sunburst finish.
