1944 Gibson J-45
1944 Gibson J-45 in very good condition. All original banner headstock logo guitar. FON-2598, one piece mahogany back and sides, two piece Red spruce top, poplar neck and tail block, red gum fingerboard and bridge, tortoise pickguard, Kluson three on a plate tuners with 1/4" shafts. The only work ever done was recently performed in our shop. We reset the neck while preserving the original uncut saddle. There is one repaired top crack and center-seem, two small repaired back cracks, several braces were reglued, and a refret. The guitar had not been under tension in many years. There is some pickwear around the soundhole. As with many of these maple neck guitars the finish is flaking of the back of the neck. The neck is a large round profile familiar to "banner" guitars. The nut is 1 23/32" wide. The sound is powerful and dynamic. There is a wonderful focus to the fundamental with great overtones. The guitar is satisfying to play with a flatpick or fingerstyle. The original soft case is in good shape and a new hard case is also included.
