1944 Martin D-18
1944 Martin D-18 in good condition. This is a fairly well documented guitar. Formerly belonged to Molly Tuttle and was sold through Gryphon a few years back. Recently traded in to us this fine scalloped brace D-18 is ready for a new home. It was refinished a long time ago and has a replacement pickguard guard, bridge with drop in saddle, repaired back cracks with cleats, recent refret, Waverly tuners, and a modern hard case. Neck shape is very nice for a wartime D-18. Does not have the extreme taper that you see on many. The neck angle is good and the is plenty of saddle. You can watch videos of Molly picking on it. It has a wonderful airy midrange and great low end. The wartime guitars all seem to have a a unique tone and this one is no exception. We have D-18s from every year of the war at the present and no two sound alike. This is a great guitar at quite a good value for the tone seeker.
