1954 Gibson J-185
1954 Gibson J-185 in good condition. This is one of the most sought and rare of all Gibson flat-top guitars. Produced from 1951-1957 there were a total of 918 made in both sunburst and natural finishes. The combination of solid maple back and sides, spruce top, and a mahogany neck create a unique and wonderful sounding guitar. The finish is original and in fair shape with checking and play wear all over but no overspray. There are several repaired side cracks, four top cracks, and two back cracks, the neck is reset, bridge is replaced with proper size and style but for the maltese cross inlays, refret with medium tall wire with little wear. All of this adds up to an amazing sounding playing guitar for quite a bit less than the minty ones. As you might expect it sounds a whole lot better than the clean ones that never got played too. When you play this guitar you understand why the J-185 is such a desirable model. There is nothing else like it in the vintage guitar world. It is lively and clear with a bright woody tone. Excellent for strumming chords, flat-picking, finger-style , you name it. Comes with original brown lifton hard case.
