C. 1870 Martin 2 ½-17 in excellent condition. Offered in sizes 2 ½ and 3, the style 17 was introduced in 1856 with spruce top and rosewood back and sides. This style 17 is fan braced. Some notable features are the solid bent lining inside the guitar as well as the superb quality tone on this instrument. Excellent for finger picking especially in classical style or even in folk style fingerpicking. This is remarkably clean for it’s age, with a refinished neck that gives this a sleek look. Replaced bridge is slightly oversized, it works well and keeps this instrument well intonated and in tune. Cosmetically this old Martin looks great with some light playwear and some repaired cracks that are perfectly lined up. This is structurally solid and a true beauty. Comes with a 1980s Martin hard shell case.
